Khand is a premium Punjabi brand that specializes in traditional Indian sweets (mithai) made with locally sourced ingredients and time-tested processes. Khand partnered with Akki Studios, which is known for merging ethnic authenticity with modern design, to recreate classic sweets for today's consumers. This case study looks at how Akki Studios contributed to Khand's distinct brand identity and exquisite packaging,resulting in a polished experience that celebrates heritage with a modern twist.
Objective and Vision
The main goal was to establish Khand as a high-end company that sold traditional Indian sweets with a modern twist.
Branding strategy
The branding strategy for Khand focused on balancing cultural authenticity with a premium, modern appeal. Making Khand stand out with a distinctive look and an engaging brand narrative was the aim.
Color Scheme: Light pink, mint green, and beige are examples of soft pastel colors that were picked because they are elegant and warm.
Typography: To produce a timeless style that feels both elegant and approachable, a traditional serif font with a hint of modernism was employed.
Visual Elements: To give a dash of Indian charm and heritage, digital artwork influenced by Punjabi motifs, such as flower patterns, was used.
Packaging strategy
The goal of Khand's packaging strategy was to create a superior, eye-catching design that reflected the brand's cultural diversity. We concentrated on creating an opulent, tactile experience with a focus on elegance and craftsmanship because packaging frequently serves as a consumer's first impression.
Material and Finish: To guarantee that Khand candies are both aesthetically pleasing and well-protected, premium, long-lasting packaging material was chosen. The packaging's embossed, golden UV foil printing added a luxurious, tactile touch to the brand's already high-end vibe.
Custom Floral Artwork: Hand-crafted floral designs based on traditional Indian motifs were created using Adobe and then printed using UV technology to guarantee rich color and fine details. These components give a hint of sophistication while paying homage to the brand's history.
Printing Methods: To give the packaging a hint of luxury and refinement, embossed golden UV gold foil printing was employed. The floral designs were made by hand to order.
Challenges
Balancing Tradition and Modernity: The challenge was to create a brand that was both nostalgic and modern.
